Westlands Solar Park

The Westlands Solar Park project, located in Kings County California, is a 2 megawatt (MW) solar generation pilot project, which came on-line in May 2016.  It is expected to produce 4,500 Megawatt-hours (MWh) per year, providing enough renewable energy to power over 600 Anaheim homes.

Unlike fixed solar panels seen on homes throughout Anaheim, this project’s solar arrays are designed to follow the sun to maximize the project’s renewable energy.  As an added benefit, the emissions free renewable energy from the Project will help Anaheim reduce its dependence on fossil fuel resources and meet its renewables portfolio standard (RPS) mandate of 50% renewable energy serving its retail load by 2030 and its greater goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% below 1990 levels by 2030 as set in the Public Utilities Department Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan adopted by the City Council in 2015.
