ANAHEIM, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2017, 8:30 a.m.) — Canyon Fire 2 is nearing full containment with no further threats to neighborhoods as of Monday morning.
Anaheim Fire & Rescue and the city of Anaheim will cease regular fire updates unless conditions change.
This reflects a positive turn in firefighting efforts.
Full containment still is projected for Tuesday. Firefighters will continue to work the fire area until full containment.
Firefighters made great progress Sunday despite hot, dry weather and strong winds in the morning.
They will continue Monday amid high temperatures but better wind conditions.
Our sincerest sympathies go out to those who saw homes destroyed or damaged, and we wish them the best as they continue the recovery process.
Now is a good time to ensure you have a family emergency plan in place to protect you and your loved ones.
