Tracking coronavirus: Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Emergency Rental Assistance PRogram for web

ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 16, 2020) — Hundreds of Anaheim renters struggling with the economic impacts of the coronavirus crisis will soon receive assistance under Anaheim’s Community and Economic Recovery Plan.

Anaheim received nearly 900 applications for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which launched in early June. The application period closed on June 5 and the city is working on processing applications now.

We expect to notify applicants and begin distributing aid in early July. We thank all applicants for their patience as we determine eligibility and the amount of assistance each household will get.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program aims to provide up to three months of rent to help those who have lost jobs or seen reduced income due to coronavirus.

The assistance, up to $2,100 per household, aims to help renters pay back rent deferred since April under Anaheim’s three-month eviction moratorium.

The program will draw on funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act as well as city funding allocated under Anaheim Community and Economic Recovery Plan.
