ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 28, 2020) — We’re moving forward with long-awaited plans for a dog park at Maxwell Park.
Work on the park is set to begin in August, following City Council approval on Tuesday of a construction contract for the project.
As Anaheim’s fourth dog park, it will include space for large and small dogs, a decomposed granite area for dogs to run and play, agility equipment as well as benches, drinking fountains, shade trees, lighting and fencing.
The final park design was based on input from area residents shared in several community meetings last year.
With a tight city budget due to the coronavirus crisis, this project is an example of using outside funding to continue to provide services to Anaheim neighborhoods.
The project will be funded by park fees collected from developers as well as a potential grant from the State Department of Parks and Recreation.
The dog park is set to be completed by the end of the year.
