Crime Stoppers Tips Lead to Arrest of Airbnb Theft Suspect

ANAHEIM, CA – Late Tuesday evening investigators from the Anaheim Police Department Crime Task Force arrested a 27 year old female suspect for grand theft related to an Airbnb rental theft. Investigators arrested Julianne Marie Lavin, a 27 year old transient, without incident as she entered her vehicle in a Santa Ana neighborhood. Lavin was booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility for Grand Theft and Embezzlement with bail set at $20,000.

The arrest stems from a theft which occurred in the 1800 block of S. State College Blvd in late July. Lavin and an unidentified male companion rented an apartment through the Airbnb application. When the owner returned to the apartment, all of the furnishings including appliances and wall decorations had been stolen. Video surveillance footage of Lavin was posted on APD’s social media and released to the media on August 9, 2016 which prompted numerous Crime Stoppers tips identifying Lavin. Investigators had been searching for Lavin since that time. Her male companion is still unidentified and the stolen property has not been recovered.

Detectives credit the Crime Stoppers tips with identifying Lavin. Booking photo shown below.
