Fire Police Press Release.jpg

Anaheim, CA (December 28, 2016, 10:00 am) – Surveillance video from a nearby residence shows a fire in the 700 block of N. Bush Street Monday night was likely caused by illegal fireworks. Around 9:15 pm, December 26, 2016, Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 700 block of N. Bush St. Arriving units found a vehicle in a driveway completely engulfed in flames. Approximately 15 firefighters from Anaheim Fire & Rescue and Fullerton Fire extinguished the blaze in under 10 minutes. The fire had communicated to a wooden fence and the eaves of the residence, but firefighters were able to minimize the damage to the structure and prevent the flames from spreading to nearby residences. The vehicle was completely destroyed and the loss is estimated at approximately $30,000.

Investigators have located surveillance camera footage which shows an illegal firework landing in the driveway near the fire’s point of origin shortly before the vehicle ignited. The illegal firework is suspected as the source of the fire. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual(s) involved in setting off the illegal fireworks. Illegal fireworks are always a fire hazard, but in dry, windy weather conditions the danger is significantly increased. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS, or by email at
