ANAHEIM, Calif. (July 13, 2017) — The City Council on Tuesday voted to appoint City Clerk Linda Andal as interim city manager.
The appointment came on a unanimous, 7-0 closed session vote.
“Linda is a trustworthy, honest leader who displays the strategic perspective to guide our city,” Mayor Tom Tait said. “I look forward to working with Linda and the City Council, and everyone at City Hall to faithfully serve the people of Anaheim. Together we will continue to make the residents and neighborhoods of our city our top priority.”
Andal has served on the city’s executive team since 2007, reporting directly to the Anaheim City Council.
She replaces Paul Emery, who was appointed city manager in July 2015. The Council requested and accepted Emery’s resignation on a 4-3 vote with Tait, Mayor Pro Tem James Vanderbilt and Council members Denise Barnes and Jose F. Moreno voting in the majority.
Per contract, Emery leaves with six months’ salary, plus an additional two months approved on a 4-3 vote with Vanderbilt and Council members Kris Murray, Lucille Kring and Stephen Faessel voting in the majority.
