ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 18, 2017) — It will give you wings, literally.
A visit to the Wings of the City art exhibit at the Anaheim Convention Center could land you two tickets to fly to Mexico City. All you need to do is enter the Wings of the City video contest.
To enter, visit the Wings of the City exhibit at the Anaheim Convention Center and use it as inspiration to create a 30- to 60-second video that conveys what Jorge Marín’s iconic bronze statues mean to you.
Send your video to firstname.lastname@example.org by Sept. 6. Email should include your name, age, email address, phone number and Facebook handle. On Sept. 7 all videos will be posted on Marín’s Facebook page.
The three videos that get the most likes by Sept. 17 will make it to the final round, when Marín, the city of Anaheim and the Consulate of Mexico in Orange County will get together and pick the first, second and third place winners. Winners will be announced on Facebook on Sept. 20.
The first place winner will receive two round-trip tickets from Los Angeles to Mexico City with Aeromexico, plus a graphic artwork signed by Marín.
Second place will receive a dinner for four at URBANA restaurant in the Anaheim Packing House, plus a graphic artwork signed by Marín.
Third place will receive a graphic artwork signed by Marín.
Wings of the City is an outdoor exhibit that features nine larger-than-life bronze sculptures by Marín, one of Mexico’s most acclaimed artists.
Among the statues is “Alas de México,” or “Wings of Mexico,” a pair of giant wings suspended above steps for people to pose in front of and become part of the art.
The wings, which debuted in 2010 as a public art exhibit on Mexico City’s Paseo de la Reforma, have been the backdrop for millions of photos as they’ve toured the world.
The free exhibit is open at the Anaheim Convention Center through Sept. 30.
