Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo’s Latest Report: More than 400 Job Seekers Found Employment Resulting from June 3 Event
ANAHEIM, CA - (September 3, 2009) - More than 400 men and women recently returned to the workforce, as a result of interviews scheduled from connections made at the Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo.  Held June 3 in Anaheim at The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk, The Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo featured 102 employers and was attended by 7,500 job seekers. 

More than 1,000 job seekers were interviewed by potential employers, and of that group, more than 400, or 34%, were hired, representing the fields of office/administrative support, production, military, healthcare, management, sales/sales related, engineering/aerospace, retail/food service, protection services and business/financial operations.

With job growth a continuing priority for the Anaheim Mayor and City Council members,  Mayor Pringle applauded Councilman Harry Sidhu’s leadership in pursuing the job fair initiative as a timely and necessary means of providing  jobseekers with important employment opportunities. 

“The 2009 Anaheim/OC Job Fair was a tremendous effort, and made possible by the contributions of many,” said Mayor Pringle . “There is a tremendous amount of satisfaction in knowing that 34% of those interviewed were able to gain meaningful employment.”  

More than 100 employers and 2,400 jobs were represented at the Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo.  In addition, free career and life-skills seminars and free resume review were held throughout the day by experts in their fields.  Job seekers also took advantage of a free Wi-Fi cafe and a computer lab for applying for jobs online. 

The Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo was a partnership event with The City of Anaheim, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, Anaheim Disposal, Anaheim Public Utilities, Anaheim Workforce Investment Board, AnaheimJobs.com, Brookfield Homes, Clean City, Inc., County of Orange, The Disneyland® Resort, Employment Development Department, FREEMAN, Michael Brandman Associates, Orange County Business Council, Orange County Register, Orange County Workforce Investment Board, Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board, SA Recycling, The Shops at Anaheim GardenWalk, Signage Solutions, and Youth Leadership America.

Plans are underway for the 2010 Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo.
