ANAHEIM, CA - (September 17, 2009) - Come hungry, and come with a heart to support the community! The City of Anaheim’s 18th annual Charity Transportation Faire will feature several activities, including the popular Chili Cook-off and a book fair, with proceeds benefitting several area non-profit organizations.
This year’s Transportation Faire celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch and moon landing. On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from the Kennedy Space Center, and four days later, on July 20, Commander Neil Armstrong became the first man on the moon and spoke the now famous words, “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The schedule of events for the Charity Transportation Fair is as follows – Chili Cook-off The Chili Cook-off will feature 15 chili entries and 32 community exhibitor booths. Tickets for tasting the chili are two tickets for $1.00, and will be available at the event. Book Fair The book fair will take place over the course of two days and feature holiday gifts in addition to books for every member of the family. Proceeds raised from the Charity Transportation Faire will be used to support the Anaheim Community Foundation/Oak Canyon Nature Center located in Anaheim Hills, the Anaheim Library Foundation/Books to Read for Kids in Need, and the American Lung Association/SCAMP Camp. The Transportation Faire is sponsored by the City of Anaheim, Public Works Transportation Center and celebrates California Rideshare Week, October 5-9.
