ANAHEIM, CA - (November 13, 2009) - Yesterday evening City of Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle was notified that Anaheim resident Justin Swanson, Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marines, died on Nov. 10 while serving his country in Afghanistan.  Swanson, based at Camp Pendleton with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, was 21-years-old.

“We grieve the loss of Lance Corporal Justin Swanson, a dedicated Marine who lived to protect his country,” said Mayor Pringle.  “Mr. Swanson paid the ultimate price for our freedom.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

Flags at City facilities are flying at half-staff today in Mr. Swanson’s honor and remembrance.
