|City of Anaheim Calling Upon Volunteers to Decorate Anaheim's 2010 Rose Parade® Float|
ANAHEIM, CA - (November 20, 2009) - The City of Anaheim is calling upon all-star decorators, to help decorate “All-Star Dreams,” the City of Anaheim’s entry in the 2010 Tournament of Roses® Parade. “All-Star Dreams,” the title of the City’s float, will represent Anaheim as host city of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game®, scheduled for July 13, 2010 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
Volunteers are needed in Pasadena to decorate the giant floral masterpiece. The float decorating process is a fun and unique experience, and one many families and groups enjoy every year. To sign up as a volunteer float decorator individually or as a group, and to view the float rendering, please visit www.anaheim.net, keyword “2010 Rose Parade.”
The decoration dates are scheduled as follows, with the decorating taking place at the Rosemont Pavilion in Pasadena, (700 S. Seco St., near the Rose Bowl).
2010 marks the City of Anaheim’s 17th appearance in the Rose Parade, including appearances between 1918 and 1926, and additionally in 1971, and 2007- 2010. Each of the recent floats has been designed by the renowned Phoenix Decorating Company, and decorated by Anaheim residents, businesses and neighbors. In recent years Anaheim’s float entry has garnered awards: The Mayor’s Trophy in 2007, and the Governor’s Trophy in 2008, when the City of Anaheim introduced the Stanley Cup to the Rose Parade in honor of the Anaheim Ducks National Hockey League Championship.
The “All-Star Dreams” float will feature a stylistic presentation of Angel Stadium of Anaheim sporting the All-Star Game logo, and proudly displaying the pennants of each of the 30 Major League Baseball clubs. The haloed “A”, prominent at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, will loom high above the stadium replica. Among many elements, the float will feature red roses, palm trees and of course, the oranges of Orange County. In addition, Major League Baseball will debut its specially designed artwork for the 2010 All-Star Game through floral and organic matter depictions on the City of Anaheim’s float.
The theme of the 121st Rose Parade is “2010: A Cut Above the Rest”, and will feature grand marshal Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger. Sullenberger is the airline captain who glided the US Airways jet with 155 people aboard safely into New York's Hudson River earlier this year.
The Rose Parade is seen by more than one million spectators who line the streets in Pasadena, Calif. to see the parade live and in person. In addition, millions view the parade on television. The 2010 Rose Parade will be broadcast on ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA (Tribune), NBC, RFD-TV, Travel Channel and Univision. The Rose Parade, known for its beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands, is also seen in more than 200 international territories and countries.
