|Free "My Anaheim" App Now Available|
ANAHEIM, CA - (September 29, 2010) - Anaheim city services at your fingertips? A calendar of events in Anaheim with the touch of a button? With the new free My Anaheim iPhone app, that, and more, is now possible.
Building on the City's commitment to innovation in customer service, the City of Anaheim is launching the My Anaheim app which is loaded with features unique to any other city app. As an example, to request city services, My Anaheim app users can use the smartphone's built-in GPS system, and can even take a photo of the location for which the city service is requested. From the main menu, My Anaheim app users can also send a comment or question directly to City Hall, and can even get information for many common city questions.
What sets the My Anaheim app apart is its increased functionality. In addition to easily connecting to city services, what may be the most unique feature is the calendar of events. From City-sponsored events, to events taking place at any of the major sports and entertainment venues in Anaheim, My Anaheim app users can browse events occurring any day, and even access a map and direct dial the contact phone number.
The convenience of the My Anaheim app can be viewed in a video posted at YouTube.com/Cityof Anaheim. The video illustrates the simplicity of the application as a local resident utilizes the calendar of events to get information on the Ducks game, while also submitting a request for city services en route to the Honda Center. The video also shows how easy and practical it is to find general city information via the app.
The My Anaheim App will compliment and work in conjunction with two other technology initiatives that the City has launched, Anaheim Anytime and Anaheim 311. To date, more than 47,000 requests have been made through Anaheim Anytime, a virtual City Hall accessible through www.anaheim.net. Through Anaheim Anytime citizens can request city information and services, ask questions about building permits, make water and electrical payments, research recreation classes and more, from the comfort and convenience of home.
In July, 2007, the City introduced the Anaheim 311 system, a non-emergency hotline allowing citizens to contact Anaheim City Hall with the convenience of one easy number, in English or Spanish. From within the city limits users can access the system by calling 311, or 714-765-4311 from outside the city limits.
To download the My Anaheim app, available for the iPhone and iPod Touch please visit the Apple App store and search "My Anaheim." Additional smartphone platforms will be available in the future. For more information please visit www.anaheim.net/myanaheim.
