|ARTIC Moves Closer to First Construction Contract|
ANAHEIM, CA - (April 21, 2011) - The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), an iconic transportation building project to meet current and future mobility needs, continues to move closer to construction. Construction bids from contractors for the Shell and Enclosure Contract will be accepted according to the highlighted bid date and location information below.
ARTIC, a partnership between the City and the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), is scheduled to open in 2014 and upon completion will be the central transportation hub in all of Orange County, and also directly serving commuters from Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties.
A contractor outreach conference in advance of the Invitation for Bids (IFB) will be held at the City of Anaheim (Anaheim West Tower - Gordon Hoyt Conference Center – 2nd Floor 201 South Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805) on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for potential bidders to receive a presentation on the scope of work related to the future IFB. Attendance at the contractor outreach conference is not mandatory, but recommended. The IFB will be issued Wednesday, May 25, 2011 and bid documents will be available for pick up on at the City of Anaheim (City Engineer's office on the 2nd Floor of City Hall, 200 South Anaheim Blvd.) A subsequent Pre-Bid Conference will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. also at the Gordon Hoyt Conference Center. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference is not mandatory, but recommended.
The construction scope of work includes supply, fabrication, and erection of structural steel, glass curtain walls, and ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) cladding. Specific questions as to the qualifications of the construction bid can be directed to Caster Williams at 714-765-5176, or email@example.com.
Following issuance of the Invitation for Bid (IFB) the City anticipates construction bids will be received in June, followed by the City's award of the construction contract in July 2011. The general construction contract for the remaining ARTIC Project improvements will be awarded in 2012.
The ARTIC site is within walking distance of three major entertainment venues in Anaheim’s Platinum Triangle: Honda Center, Angel Stadium of Anaheim and City National Grove of Anaheim. Future plans for Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC), a fixed-guideway system, will transport guests from ARTIC to stops within the Platinum Triangle and the Anaheim Resort District.
