|TOSHIBA Donates More than 40 Computers to Anaheim Library; Library Open House Celebration on Sept. 1|
ANAHEIM, CA - (August 26, 2011) - More than 40 new laptop computers have been donated to the library at Ponderosa Park and Ponderosa School, and on Thursday, Sept. 1 the City of Anaheim will host a community open house to thank Toshiba America for their generosity and vision to expand computer literacy skills in Anaheim. The entire community is welcome to attend the 5:30 p.m. event.
“This is a tremendous donation to Anaheim school children, their parents, and the entire Anaheim community,” said Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait. “We are grateful to Toshiba America for their investment, and I personally want to thank Councilmember Kris Murray for leading this effort.”
“Toshiba America’s donation of laptop computers to the library at Ponderosa Park and Ponderosa School is greatly appreciated,” said Councilmember Murray. “This public-private partnership will result in greater computer access for our residents of all ages. Computer skills are vital in the pursuit of educational and career goals. Toshiba America’s donation will greatly benefit the entire Anaheim community.”
Ponderosa Park is located at 2135 South Mountain View Ave., Anaheim, 92802. The community open house will feature a presentation to Toshiba America, a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the computer room at the library, and a story telling time for the children.
Ponderosa Park and Ponderosa School represent a unique partnership between the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim City School District. The school opened in 2010 and in development with the City designed a beautiful campus in a park setting. The school and the city park share property and a planned-use agreement according to the school schedule. For example, students have full access to the school library and computer room during the day, and evening computer classes are being scheduled for Ponderosa neighborhood residents during non-school hours.
