|Anaheim Outdoors Connectivity Plan|
Public workshops scheduled for Saturday December 10 and Tuesday December 13, 2011.
ANAHEIM, CA - (December 7, 2011) - The City of Anaheim is requesting resident input for the Anaheim Outdoors Connectivity Plan, a project to develop a citywide system of green corridors connecting residents, visitors and employees to both existing and planned high density urban areas.
Two public workshops are scheduled to obtain public input concerning the Anaheim Outdoors Connectivity Plan. The workshops are scheduled for Saturday, Dec, 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the newly opened Anaheim Coves (962 S. Rio Vista St.), and Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Anaheim City Hall (200 S. Anaheim Blvd.).
The Anaheim Outdoors Connectivity Plan will increase open space by identifying projects that emphasize shade trees, pocket parks, a river walk on the Santa Ana River, multi-modal non-motorized trails and pathways, demonstration gardens, wildlife corridors, bioswales, and other storm water filtration and collections systems, and propose a citywide California friendly plant palette.
In addition, the plan will evaluate non-motorized connections throughout the city, but especially between the Platinum Triangle, Anaheim Resort, Downtown Anaheim and the Anaheim Canyon. By providing more desirable walkways and trails that encourage alternative modes of transportation, Greenhouse Gas Emissions associated with automobiles will be reduced, consistent with the California Global Warming Act of 2006.
This connectivity plan is funded by two grants from the State of California’s Proposition 84 Urban Greening Planning Grant Program and the Southern California Association of Governments Compass Blueprint Demonstration Project.
