|
ANAHEIM, CA - (June 27, 2012) - The Anaheim City Council will host a workshop on Wednesday, July 11 in response to concerns brought to the attention of the City regarding the City’s at-large voting system. A panel of experts, to be announced at a later date, will provide a presentation of voting rights issues and redistricting. The purpose of the workshop is to educate the Council and the residents, and to seek public input on this important issue.
The public is encouraged to attend the workshop to learn about the differences between an at-large voting system and a district-based voting system, and how each system might impact future City elections. The City currently uses an at-large voting system as required by the City Charter. The public will have an opportunity to present their public comments at the July 11 workshop. The workshop will take place at the Anaheim City Hall Council Chambers, and will begin at 5 p.m. Anaheim City Hall is located at 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805.
