ANAHEIM, CA - (July 9, 2012) - The Anaheim City Council has announced the following information regarding the July 10 City Council meeting and July 11 Special Meeting.

July 10 - City Council Meeting
The scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 10 will take place at the Brookhurst Community Center (2271 W. Crescent Ave., Anaheim), at the request of the Council members to host four City Council meetings this year at locations throughout the City. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. The meeting will also be streamed live at www.anaheim.net.

July 11 – Special Meeting
The Anaheim City Council will host a special meeting on Wednesday, July 11 in response to concerns brought to the attention of the City regarding the City’s at-large voting system. A panel of experts will provide a presentation of voting rights issues and redistricting. The purpose of the meeting is to educate the Council and the residents, and to seek public input on this important issue.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn about the differences between an at-large voting system and a district-based voting system, and how each system might impact future City elections. The City currently uses an at-large voting system as required by the City Charter. The public will have an opportunity to present their public comments at the July 11 meeting.

The July 11 meeting will take place at the Anaheim City Hall Council Chambers, and will begin at 5 p.m. Anaheim City Hall is located at 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805. The meeting will also be streamed live at www.anaheim.net.
