|Anaheim Names Debbie Moreno As City's Finance Director|
ANAHEIM, CA - (July 11, 2012) - The Anaheim City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Debbie Moreno as Finance Director at last night’s City Council meeting. Moreno will oversee the department that is responsible for the City’s $1.5 billion budget, accounting, procurement, and technology services.
“Anaheim is a world-class city, and the scale and complexity to lead the financial efforts requires a seasoned leader with a broad base of knowledge and experience,” said Anaheim City Manager Bob Wingenroth. “Debbie brings that and more to Anaheim. Her care and concern for the entire community made her the ideal candidate, and I am pleased to congratulate her on her new role with the City of Anaheim.”
Moreno was most recently the City’s Acting Finance Director, a position she held since November 2011. She initially joined the City of Anaheim in February 2001, and was appointed to Financial Accounting Manager. In January 2006, Moreno briefly left Anaheim to be the City of La Palma Director of Finance, but returned to Anaheim in August 2007 as Deputy Finance Director. She earned a bachelor’s degree in administration from California State University, San Bernardino.
Moreno also lectures for California State University, Fullerton Extended Education.
Moreno and her husband, who live in Whittier, are active volunteers with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation which provides free fishing opportunities at city lakes throughout Southern California.
