|ARTIC Construction Contract Award To Be Considered By Anaheim City Council|
ANAHEIM, CA - (August 27, 2012) - The Anaheim City Council on Tuesday evening will consider the selection of Clark Construction Group – California , LP, as the general contractor for the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). Clark Construction was identified as the lowest responsible bidder among eight construction companies that entered into the bidding process.
ARTIC is a partnership between the City of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority and is funded with a combination of Measure M funds, the local half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, as well as state and federal funds. More than 5,000 jobs will be available as a result of the ARTIC project.
ARTIC is designed to be a world-class transportation center where people will move seamlessly between transit services to reach Southern California's activity centers, business districts and beyond. ARTIC will be located in the heart of Orange County, the fifth most densely populated county in the nation. Anaheim is California’s 10th largest city. The 16-acre ARTIC site is within walking distance of three major entertainment venues in Anaheim’s Platinum Triangle: Honda Center, Angel Stadium of Anaheim and City National Grove of Anaheim.
American owned and operated since 1906, Clark Construction Group, LLC, has grown from a small excavating company to one of the nation’s most experienced and respected providers of construction services. With annual revenue in excess of $4 billion, Clark Construction is consistently ranked among the country’s largest and safest general building and civil construction companies. Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Clark Construction has regional offices (including Costa Mesa, San Diego and Oakland) that are strategically located to serve the needs of clients throughout the United States. In southern California, Clark Construction has managed the construction on LA LIVE!, Nokia Theater, Disney’s Cars Land, CALTRANS District 7, Long Beach Courthouse Building and Petco Park in San Diego.
Clark Construction has a long history of supporting local companies during the bid and construction process. During the bid process, Clark Construction invited more than 700 California contractors to bid the project, of which more than 50% are minority-owned companies, 80% have offices located in California, and 64% have offices in southern California. In anticipation of the ARTIC award, Clark Construction has been in contact with Anaheim Jobs, the City’s Workforce Investment Board. In addition, Clark Construction will continue to emphasize local hires on the jobsite during construction, including sponsoring two job fairs, linking jobs to www.anaheimjobs.com, and encouraging subcontractors to also post their jobs to the same website.
Construction on ARTIC is scheduled to begin in September with opening in late 2014.
The Anaheim City Council meeting will take place at Anaheim City Hall, located at 200 S. Anaheim Blvd., beginning at 5 p.m. The Council Chambers are located on the first floor.
