ANAHEIM, CA - (September 28, 2012) - The Ponderosa Joint-Use Library will celebrate its public library opening on Saturday, Oct. 6, and the community is invited to join the celebration, which will begin at 10 a.m. Ponderosa Library is located at 240 E. Orangewood Ave., Anaheim, CA 92802.
The Ponderosa Library is on the campus of Ponderosa Elementary School at Ponderosa Park. The school, which opened on July 14, 2010, was designed with the unique aspect of the Anaheim City School District and City of Anaheim Library sharing the library facility, which includes a computer lab. Immediately upon the school opening, the Ponderosa School students were given full access to the library during regular school hours, with the facility manned by Anaheim City School District staff. Adult learning classes in the computer lab had been offered on selected dates during the evenings. Now, the Ponderosa Library is open full-time to the entire community during after-school hours and weekends, with City librarians and staff providing library services. Last year Toshiba America donated more than 40 new laptop computers to Ponderosa School and Library, furthering the opportunity for increased computer skills. The computers have provided both children and adults tremendous learning opportunities. Public, community hours for Ponderosa Library are Monday – Thursday, 4:30-8:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Ponderosa Library is closed Friday and Sunday, but remains open during regular school hours for Ponderosa School students. The Anaheim Public Library system includes seven full service branch libraries, Heritage Library and one bookmobile. Libraries offer reading materials, computer stations, online reference search tools, Wi-Fi, special events, and more.
