ANAHEIM, CA - (October 17, 2012) - The City of Anaheim’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Elections and Community Involvement will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Oct. 18, and the community is invited to attend. The meeting will take place at the Brookhurst Community Center (2271 W. Crescent Ave., Anaheim, CA 92801), starting at 6 p.m.
The purpose of the Citizens Advisory Committee is to promote the full participation of all residents, neighborhoods, community groups and ethnic groups in studying the City’s electoral system. The Committee will provide advice to the City Council, including recommendations on:
The Citizens Advisory Committee was established on Aug. 10, and applications to serve on this committee were accepted through September 11. The Committee consists of 11 members. The members of the City Council each appointed two members to the Committee and the City Manager, or his appointee serve as the eleventh member, in an ex-officio capacity. Appointments were announced on September 25 and posted on the Citizens Advisory Committee webpage at www.anaheim.net. A list of committee members can be found by clicking here. The Committee will report its findings and recommendations directly to the City Council by May 31, 2013. Any proposed changes to the City’s governance structure will be placed on the June 2014 ballot to ensure that any organizational changes are effective by the next regular general municipal election in November 2014, if so desired by the electorate of Anaheim. Committee meetings will include a time for public comments, and will be recorded and available for viewing online at www.anaheim.net.
