|City Charter Review Committee Names Chair And Vice Chair|
ANAHEIM, CA - (August 2, 2013) - The Anaheim Charter Review Committee on Wednesday night unanimously selected its Chair and Vice Chair to lead the seven-member Committee through its comprehensive review of the City’s Charter.
Todd Ament will serve as Chair of the Committee. Ament has been an Anaheim resident for 47 years, served on multiple city boards and commissions and currently is the President of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held for nearly nine years.
Ernesto Medrano will serve as Vice Chair of the Committee. Medrano is currently the Political Coordinator for Teamster Local 952 and has been an advocate to a variety of labor workforces for more than 30 years, and was recently appointed Commissioner to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Human Rights.
The Committee will participate in a minimum of bi-monthly meetings for which the public is encouraged to attend and contribute their input. There are several ways for the community to provide feedback on sections of the Charter that are of interest to them:
Feedback that is provided online or in writing at least 24 hours prior to a scheduled meeting will be distributed to the Committee at such meeting. Comments submitted less than a 24 hours prior to a scheduled meeting will be distributed to the Committee at the next scheduled meeting.
The Anaheim City Council approved the creation of the Committee on May 28 to serve as an advisory body to the Council. Upon conclusion of the review, the Charter Review Committee will present the City Council with recommendations, which could be placed on the ballot for voter approval during the next statewide primary election. Any recommendations for change to the City’s Charter can be made only by the vote of Anaheim’s residents.
