|Anaheim Public Utilities Teams With SoCalGas To Provide Energy Efficiency Programs To Shared Customers|
ANAHEIM, CA - (October 11, 2013) - Anaheim Public Utilities and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) have teamed up to deliver energy efficiency programs for shared Anaheim customers based on an agreement approved by the Anaheim City Council at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. The two utilities plan to work together to offer energy-saving and potentially cost-saving programs to residential customers and small businesses.
“This collaborative partnership will offer a “one-stop shop” for those customers interested in reducing the total cost of their utilities” said Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait. “By working together, we are making it even more convenient for Anaheim customers to learn about available programs.”
“Partnering with Orange County’s only municipal-owned utility is a great opportunity to better serve our customers,” said Gillian Wright, SoCalGas director of Customer Programs. “This partnership helps our shared customers maximize their energy savings and conservation.”
The first joint programs will include an expanded weatherization program to provide whole-house improvements for income-qualified customers, adding gas-saving information to Anaheim’s current Small Business Program, and a new program focused on Anaheim’s large food service industry.
In addition to programs offered in partnership with SoCalGas, Anaheim Public Utilities offers more than 30 conservation programs that help customers reduce their use of water and electricity, including solar energy incentives and free shade trees to reduce air conditioning use.
Energy efficiency programs encourage customers to take steps, such as installing high-efficiency windows or insulation to conserve energy and lower utility bills. Customers can receive free energy assessments of their homes or businesses to identify where energy can be saved. Customers receiving an audit also receive free energy-efficient light bulbs and other devices that reduce energy or water use. Also included with the audit is a description of available rebates and incentives.
