Anaheim Council District Mapping Meetings Continue
ANAHEIM, CA - (October 22, 2013) - The Council District Mapping Community Input project will conduct its second meeting in west Anaheim on Wednesday, October 23 at 6 p.m. at the Brookhurst Community Center (2271 W. Crescent Ave, Anaheim, 92801).

The City of Anaheim adopted Ordinance No. 6280 at the July 23 City Council meeting, thereby establishing residency districts for City Council Members and candidates for Council. This ordinance requires that the City Council create these districts and adopt maps by March 1, 2014.

Maps will be drawn for both four and six Council seats due to the placement of a proposed ballot measure on the June 2014 ballot asking voters whether the size of the Council will be increased to six plus a separately elected Mayor.

The community meetings will provide an overview of how to become involved and submit a map or comments regarding communities of interest. Residents can join with the demographer as he illustrates how to use the Public Participation Kit and other methods to submit a map. Community meetings will be held in various areas throughout Anaheim before the map submission deadline on November 8 and following the submission period, as maps are refined.

The demographer will be available at this meeting from 5-6 p.m. at the Brookhurst Community Center to assist you in drawing your own plan.
