Anaheim Public Utilities Offers Free Energy-Saving Holiday Light Exchange
ANAHEIM, CA - (November 27, 2013) - Anaheim Public Utilities is offering a holiday light exchange program from Monday, December 2 through Friday, December 13. During that time, customers can trade in one of their old incandescent holiday lights for a new 37-foot string of energy-saving LED lights.

Customers can take their old light strands—along with their utility bill or valid driver’s license—to one of the following locations for the exchange:

  • Anaheim West Tower: 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., 8th Floor; Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Canyon Hills Library: 400 Scout Trail; Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony: Center Street Promenade, Downtown Anaheim; Sunday, December 7, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

LED lights consume 65% less energy than--and last up to 10 times longer than--conventional incandescent lights. This program will save nearly 22,000 kilowatt-hours during the holidays, which is the equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions from three passenger vehicles. In addition to using less electricity in decorating their homes for the holidays, APU customers will be helping the environment at the same time.

Supplies are limited, and customers are encouraged to check the availability of the LED lights by contacting Anaheim Public Utilities' Business & Community Programs division at 714.765.4975.
