I have applied for a position and haven’t heard anything yet. When will I be contacted?
After the application deadline, Human Resources will review the applications and based upon the information provided, the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process. Depending on the volume of applications received, you will be notified by mail of the status of your application two – three weeks after the application deadline.

How can I find out what positions are available?
The City of Anaheim announces job openings:
- on the City’s webpage – www.anaheim.net
- on the City’s 24-hour job information line – 714 765-5197
- at the Human Resources Department, which is located on the fifth floor of City Hall West, at 201 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Can I be notified of upcoming positions?
You may complete an interest card for Fire Fighter and Police Officer and will be notified when we are recruiting for those positions. For all other positions, we are not able to notify you of upcoming vacancies. All available positions are announced:

Can I submit a cover letter and resume for any position I am interested in?
A resume may be required for some positions, but will not be accepted as a substitute for a completed City employment application. A City employment application is required for each position you are applying for.

How long is my application kept on file?
If you are successful in passing the selection process and are not immediately hired for a current position, your name will be placed on an eligibility list and your application kept on file for six months to one year, depending on the position.

If I’m interested in several positions with the City of Anaheim, do I need to submit an application for each posting?
Yes. The information requested on the application is intended to be specific to the position you are applying for.

Does the City require skills testing or physical exams?
Each selection process may be different, depending upon the position you are applying for. You may want to thoroughly review the job bulletin to familiarize yourself with the areas which may be tested.
A physical exam is required for all full-time and select part-time positions.

Is a keyboarding skills test required and if so where do I take one?
Applicants applying for positions with keyboarding requirements may be required to take and pass a keyboarding test in order to be considered for that position. Keyboarding exams for recruitments are administered by the Human Resources department.

I don’t have a driver’s license. Can I still apply for a position?
Yes. However, many positions require that you provide a valid California Driver’s license by date of appointment. Check the job bulletin for specific license requirements.

I have a criminal record. Can I still apply for a position?
Yes. For most positions, having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from the selection process.
