MECA, the Multicultural Education Conference in Anaheim, is a 2-day multicultural event hosted by The Academia Foundation, a non-profit public charity (a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization), and co-organized by Anaheim University, an accredited university based in Anaheim, California. The conference will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20, 2017. This event is open to the public at no charge but online registration is required. Presentations will cover a wide range of topics of importance to teachers, administrators and those interested in multicultural education and intercultural communications. Presentations will be made in the following areas:
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
school leadership and classroom strategies
international film and culture
initiatives for peace and sustainability

Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and video game players, supporters, and fans from around the world will converge in Anaheim for the 2017 Pokémon World Championships the weekend of August 18th-20th. The Anaheim Convention Center is hosting the family-friendly event where the most elite Pokémon players from more than 30 countries will compete.

S.T.A.R.S (Study-Time, Arts, Recreation, and Sports) is offered at 10 sites throughout Anaheim. This free, drop-in program will offer children, ages 5-16, academic support, art enrichment, sports, and recreation opportunities. S.T.A.R.S is a year around program offered Monday through Friday, from the time students are released from school until 6:00 p.m. Times will vary based on location and individual school schedules. Come out and see us!

The Orange County community is invited to meet 100 zine vendors at the 4th annual OC Zine Fest, hosted at the Anaheim Central Library. The days events will feature vendors, panel discussions, workshops and food trucks. The endnote speakers are Ewa Wojciak from NO MAG and Stacy Russo.
Each of the vendors will have zines available for purchase, and guests will have the opportunity to speak with the writers, artists and zine makers during the event.
