MECA, the Multicultural Education Conference in Anaheim, is a 2-day multicultural event hosted by The Academia Foundation, a non-profit public charity (a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization), and co-organized by Anaheim University, an accredited university based in Anaheim, California. The conference will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 19 and 20, 2017. This event is open to the public at no charge but online registration is required. Presentations will cover a wide range of topics of importance to teachers, administrators and those interested in multicultural education and intercultural communications. Presentations will be made in the following areas:
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
school leadership and classroom strategies
international film and culture
initiatives for peace and sustainability

Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and video game players, supporters, and fans from around the world will converge in Anaheim for the 2017 Pokémon World Championships the weekend of August 18th-20th. The Anaheim Convention Center is hosting the family-friendly event where the most elite Pokémon players from more than 30 countries will compete.

Fun on Wheels Mobile Recreation Program is a free drop- in program designed to bring recreation and other resources into the neighborhoods for children, ages 5-18. The program offers homework assistance, fitness fun, art enrichment, and resource materials. No registration is needed! All programs are closed on holidays and days of inclement weather. Children are encouraged to remain at the program location, but are free to come and go at any time. The staff are not responsible for children who choose to leave the program location.
