    Fun on Wheels Mobile Recreation Program is a free drop- in program designed to bring recreation and other resources into the neighborhoods for children, ages 5-18. The program offers homework assistance, fitness fun, art enrichment, and resource materials. No registration is needed! All programs are closed on holidays and days of inclement weather. Children are encouraged to remain at the program location, but are free to come and go at any time. The staff are not responsible for children who choose to leave the program location.

    The impact of stressful and traumatic experiences on development. This workshop focuses on how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can impact child development and lead negative consequences into adulthood. Participants will learn how to identify and understand the behaviors that often manifest in children with ACEs, and learn ways to prevent ACEs from occurring in the lies of their loved ones. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding of how to foster a sense of resiliency in their loved ones in order to buffer the negative effects of ACEs and increase well being into adulthood.

    Discusión de problemas con los que se enfrentan los jóvenes y las mejores maneras de como apoyarlos en sus dificultades. Este taller se enfoca en enseñar a padres, custodios y redes de apoyo a como abrir canales para mantener una mejor y más sana comunicación con jóvenes en riesgo. Como hemos visto en televisión sobre suicidios y auto maltrato físico juvenil, se aprenderán también estrategias de como acercarse a un adolescente en conflicto. Los participantes empezarán por aprender a reconocer señales de cuándo un adolescente se encuentra en riesgo y como facilitar una sana comunicación estableciendo sus propios límites. Los participantes llevarán al final un mejor entendimiento de cómo ayudar a un joven a pasar exitosamente la transición de adolescente a adulto.
