ANAHEIM, CA - (April 11, 2013) - On April 3, 2013 personnel from the Anaheim Police Department, Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, Anaheim Code Enforcement, State of California Employment Development Department, and State of California Department of Industrial Relations Division of Labor Standards Enforcement conducted business inspections at four massage parlors and a private spa/sauna rental business in the City of Anaheim.

The inspections were a collaborative effort focused on employment & labor laws and precursors for human trafficking activity within massage parlors. The collaborative partners identified patterns of suspected prostitution activity within the businesses and utilized a multi-faceted enforcement effort in an attempt to uncover criminal activity, encourage compliance with state laws, and identify potential victims of human trafficking.

As a result of the inspections, personnel from the Department of Industrial Relations Division of Labor Standards Enforcement and Employment Development Department issued fines totaling $54,176 to the establishments listed below for being outside of compliance with state employment and labor laws.

Neptune’s Lagoons located at 2784 W. Ball Rd. fines = $13, 676
Calm Sea Spa located at 1665 S. Brookhurst St. fines = $13,500
Heavenly Spa located at 1205 S. Western Ave. fines = $15,000
Sunset Spa located at 3340 W. Ball Rd. #E fines = $9,000
Knott Aromatherapy located at 135 S. Knott Ave. fines = $3,000
