|Anaheim and Santa Ana Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Active Shooter Exercise|
ANAHEIM, CA - (November 4, 2013) - In the aftermath of mass casualty shootings across the nation, law and fire services have been conducting active shooter training to enhance response and identify gaps in preparedness. As a result, new policies and procedures have been developed to handle mass casualty incidents. The Orange County Operational Area (OCOA) has been leading this effort by collaboratively investing in regional policy development, equipment purchase, and training and exercise conduct. The OCOA, collaboration between OCFA, Orange Fire, Costa Mesa Fire, OCSD, Santa Ana PD, and Anaheim PD have developed an exercise to test these policies and procedures.
On Friday, November 8, 2013 at 9:00 AM, Police Officers and Firefighters from across Orange County will participate in an exercise simulating an active shooter situation at a local hospital. Using the countywide mutual aid response plan, law enforcement and fire agencies will be paired up with their respective mutual aide partners to respond to this simulated active shooter situation.
