Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect / Joint Investigation with Santa Ana Police Department
ANAHEIM, CA - (December 15, 2013) - At 6:30 AM today, Anaheim Police Officers were called to the intersection of Brookhurst St. and La Palma Ave. regarding a robbery. A female adult victim reported that as she was exiting the church located on the northwest corner of Brookhurst St. and La Palma Ave., she was attacked as she attempted to enter her vehicle. During the attack she was physically and sexually assaulted as the suspect demanded money. She was able to break free, leaving behind her personal effects, including her vehicle. She ran across the street and called the police. Responding officers contacted the victim, who suffered several injuries consistent with a physical assault. These injuries were not life threatening and she was later treated and released from a nearby hospital.

The victim described her attacker as follows:

African American Male, 20-30 years old, wearing all black clothing.

Officers were directed to where the attack occurred, and discovered the victim’s vehicle had been stolen. Officers immediately entered the vehicle into the Stolen Vehicle System, and at approximately 1030 hours an Anaheim Police Patrol Officer located the victim’s vehicle near Romenya Dr. and Acacia St. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a short pursuit ensued. In the area of 500 N. Pauline St., the suspect vehicle collided with several parked cars and the driver fled the vehicle on foot. A perimeter was established for the suspect who fled and three other occupants, who remained in the vehicle, were detained without incident.

A short time after the perimeter was established; a suspect was located and detained at an apartment complex in the 500 block of N. Pauline St. The suspect was identified as 18 year-old Raymond Martin Daniel Boykin (DOB: 08-15-95) / Residence Unknown.

At the time of initial report, Anaheim Police Detectives were aware of a similar sexual assault in the City of Santa Ana that occurred on 12-11-2013. Both departments began to work together in an effort to establish if these similar attacks were related. At the time of this writing, the Santa Ana Police Department confirms Boykin is the suspect in their sexual assault at the Mainplace Mall on 12-11-2013. The Anaheim Police Department is still working to confirm Boykin is the suspect in the sexual assault this morning as described above. Boykin has been confirmed as the suspect in the felony evading (pursuit), while in possession of the victim’s stolen vehicle. Boykin was taken to the Anaheim Police Department Temporary Detention Facility and booked on suspicion of felony evading and possession of a stolen vehicle. Additional charges are expected as the two sexual assaults investigations continue into the weekend.

If you know of any additional victims or have any additional information pertaining to either of these cases, please contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS, www.occrimestoppers.org , or text OCCS and your tip to 274637.
