Kris Murray was elected to the Anaheim City Council in November 2010. Previously, Murray was Vice Chair of the Anaheim Public Utility Board, committed to keeping Anaheim's rates for water and power among the lowest in the region. She also represented the City of Anaheim on the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) Board of Directors. As an elected council member, she continues to serve as a board member of MWD, in addition to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Executive Committee and Regional Council, Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG), and the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency.

Council Member Murray is also a Board Member of the Anaheim MUZEO, OCTaxpayers Association, Support our Anaheim Resort (SOAR) Community Advisory Board, and co-chair of the Anaheim Economic Partnership. Murray is committed to the city's non-profit community including Anaheim Boys and Girls Clubs, Cops for Kids, Anaheim Family Justice Center, Anaheim Beautiful, and many others serving children and families.

Murray holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach and a Master's Certificate in Transportation Management from the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State University.

Protecting Anaheim Families, Communities and Private Property
Fighting crime, drugs, gangs and graffiti are some of the council member's highest priorities. She is a strong supporter of Anaheim's world class police and fire departments, which work to make Anaheim one of the safest cities of its size in the nation. Council Member Murray is also working to strengthen code enforcement to preserve the city's many unique and historic neighborhoods. Council Member Murray is working on a major initiative for Kids, Parks, Arts and Libraries (KPAL) that will launch in 2013 to ensure that Anaheim has the highest quality parks and libraries anywhere in Orange County.

Growing Anaheim's Economy
The City of Anaheim's economy is recovering much quicker than many cities across California because of the diversity of our industry base and because of the strength of the Anaheim Resort District, the most important economic engine and source of jobs in our city. Council Member Murray serves as the co-chair of the Anaheim Economic Development Partnership aimed at growing jobs throughout the city. This will make Anaheim the best choice for businesses looking to expand or relocate in California.

Expanding Transportation Options and Cutting Traffic
For more than a decade, Council Member Murray has worked to improve Anaheim's streets, roads, commuter rail, and bus systems. She helped deliver new funding for transportation projects that will expand Anaheim's economic base – including the Anaheim Regional Intermodal Center (ARTIC) transit center that will help to move residents and the more than 26 million visitors to our city annually throughout the resort areas, county and greater region. She supports emerging transportation programs that will provide increased access to the city while reducing traffic on streets and roads such as the Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC) – a modern streetcar system from ARTIC and Stadium areas to the Convention Center, GardenWalk and Disneyland Resort.
