|ANAHEIM CELEBRATES PUBLIC POWER WEEK AND CHALLENGES THE COMMUNITY TO GET THE POWER|
ANAHEIM, CA - (October 7, 2009) - Anaheim residents are invited to celebrate Public Power Week, Oct. 4-10, with special public presentations and exhibits at the Downtown Farmer’s Market beginning at noon and running to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8.
Highlighting Anaheim Public Utilities’ activities will be the highly popular “bucket rides,” where attendees can ride in a utility bucket truck and catch a view of the city from a different perspective. Anaheim Public Utilities booths and displays will provide information about electric services, energy-saving tips, free shade trees and information from the dedicated employees who help design and operate Anaheim’s century-old electric utility.
New this year, a series of brief special presentations are being offered to utility employees from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. by representatives from the six electric utility divisions – 5 minute overviews of the role of each group and how their contributions benefit Anaheim’s utility customers.
Public Power Week is celebrated annually by Anaheim Public Utilities, along with more than 2,000 other electric utilities across America that collectively provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis to 45 million Americans. More on Public Power ...

While the focus will be on Public Power, information also will be available on current drought conditions as well as tips on some of the best ways to save water without impacting your lifestyle.
Public Power Week is a national event sponsored in conjunction with the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington, DC. APPA is the service organization for community and state-owned electric utilities.
