ANAHEIM, CA - (June 12, 2015) - The City of Anaheim is proud to honor Flag Day this Sunday by introducing a new segment in the City’s Hometown Heroes video series.
Anaheim Police Officer Brennan Leininger founded the organization A Flag for Every Hero, to honor military members laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery. What began as a small group of volunteers on Memorial Day in 2012 has grown to more than 1,000 volunteers placing 200,000 flags at each gravesite every Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Riverside National Cemetery is the third largest cemetery managed by the National Cemetery Administration.
Officer Leininger followed in his father and grandfather footsteps by serving our country. He joined the Air Force, and as a Security Forces Specialist in the United States Air Force was stationed at the Pentagon during 9/11. It was on that day and following that his resolve that service members are not forgotten was strengthened.
Following an eight year military career Leininger joined the Anaheim Police Department, where for the past 10 years he has served the Anaheim community.
