ANAHEIM, CA - (April 2, 2015) - Anaheim’s very popular Great Compost Giveaway is back, and residents can receive up to 60 gallons of nutrient-rich compost for FREE. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 11 at Honda Center, in parking lot #5 (S. Douglass Road entrance). The event is a partnership between the City of Anaheim’s Public Works Department and Republic Services.

Rain or shine, the Great Compost Giveaway will take place from 7-10 a.m., or while the supply lasts.  Residents are asked to bring their own containers and will receive the “drive through” convenience of waiting in vehicles while staff fills the containers.  Bags will not be accepted.

In addition, residents can purchase home composting equipment at a significant discount. Earth Machine compost bins and kitchen collector buckets will be available for only $20 (a $50 value) at this event. Or, if you cannot make the Great Compost Giveaway event, residents can purchase the equipment by contacting Rebeca Escobedo at (714) 765-6883 or via email at

So if you are looking for rosier roses, heftier veggies, or spectacular hedges, come on out on Saturday, April 11 and receive up to 60 gallons of this nutrient-rich compost/soil conditioner for FREE.

For more information on the Great Compost Giveaway or yard waste recycling program, call Republic Services Customer Service Department at (714) 238-2444, or visit

Residents must provide proof of Anaheim residency (i.e. California Drivers License or an Anaheim Utility Bill) is required.
